Arpita used 4 matchsticks to make a square. Then she took 3 more sticks and arranged them to make 2 squares. Another 3 sticks helped her to make 3 squares. How many sticks are needed to make 7 such squares in the same way? How many sticks are needed to make 50 squares?

4 matchsticks to make a square

another 3 more matchsticks to make 2 square i.e 4+3 = 7 matchsticks are needed to make 2 square

another 3 more matchsticks are needed to make 3 squares i.e 7+3 = 10 matchsticks are needed to make 3 square

another 2 more matchsticks are needed to make 4 square i.e 10+2 = 12 matchsticks are needed to make 4 square

to make 50 squares = 4(for first square) + (3*13) + (2*36)= 4+39+72 = 106

where, 3 represents three matchsticks,
2 represents two matchsticks,
13 represents top and right corner squares needs 3 three matchsticks but except first square it needs 4 matchsticks, and remaining square needs only 2 matchsticks

so 106 matchsticks needs to make 50 squares
