To arrange : following numbers in the ascending order .

Given data : \frac{1}{3} , \frac{3}{8} , \frac{8}{9}

Solution :

  • To arrange numbers in ascending order is to write number from smaller to bigger .
  • Therefore , to arrange given rational numbers in the descending order we need to equalize denominators of all the rational numbers by takin LCM .
  • Therefore , LCM = 72
  • Now , multiplying numerators by same numbers as multiplied by denominator to make LCM .
  • Therefore, we get , \frac{1}{3} ,\frac{3}{8} ,\frac{8}{9} = \frac{1\times 24}{72} , \frac{3\times 9}{72} ,\frac{8\times 8}{72}

         Ascending order :  \frac{24}{72} < \frac{27}{72} < \frac{64}{72}

Hence , ascending order is : \frac{1}{3} < \frac{3}{8} < \frac{8}{9}  .
