Arrange ammonia, methyl amine and aniline in the increasing order of their basicity. Justify your answer.

aniline < ammonia < methylamine

Explanation:

aniline is weaker base than ammonia because in aniline, the lone pair of nitrogen is involved in resonance stabilisation so it is not donated easily.

Now, methylamine is strong base than ammonia because there is one methyl group which is electron donating group. so the electron density increases on nitrogen due to presence of CH3- group in methylamine and hence it can easily loses its electron than ammonia.
