The order of the following molecules in SN2 reaction will be :-

A > B > C

  • SN2 reactions follow second order kinetics that is the rate depends upon the concentration of both the reactants
  • The rate of SN2 reaction is inversely proportional to steric overcrowding in transition state .
  • Hence, the reactivity of (A) will be highest followed by (B) .
  • (C) is least reactive because bulky groups hinder approaching nucleophiles .
  • Thus, order of reactivity is primary > secondary > tertiary
  • So order will be A > B > C .
