Simples way is to write the nos in decimal form and then arrange them in ascending order...

So the series in decimal form is,

4/7 = 0.56, 5/9 = 0.55, 2/5 = 0.40

So we can clearly see that 2/5 is the least then 5/9 and then 4/7.

So the series is 2/5 < 5/9 < 4/7.
