To arrange :  following numbers in the ascending order .

Given data : \frac{-7}{3} ,\frac{-25}{8} ,\frac{-5}{2} ,\frac{-9}{4}

Solution :

  • To arrange numbers in ascending order is to write number from smaller to bigger .
  • Therefore , to arrange given rational numbers in the ascending order we need to equalize denominators of all the rational numbers by taking LCM .
  • Therefore , LCM = 24
  • Now , multiplying numerators by same numbers as multiplied by denominator to make LCM .
  • Therefore, we get , \frac{-7\times 8}{24} ,\frac{-25\times3}{24} ,\frac{-5\times12}{24} ,\frac{-9 \times 6}{24}

                                         \frac{-56}{24} ,\frac{-75}{24} ,\frac{-60}{24} ,\frac{-54}{24}

  • Now , arranging them in ascending order we get,

        Ascending order :   \frac{-75}{24} < \frac{-60}{24} < \frac{-56}{24} < \frac{-54}{24} OR \frac{-25}{8} < \frac{-5}{2} < \frac{-7}{3} < \frac{-9}{4}
