Improper fractions :

3 \frac{1}{2}  =  \frac{7}{2}  \\  \\ 2 \frac{1}{2}  =  \frac{5}{2}   \\  \\ 8 \frac{1}{4}  =  \frac{33}{4}

Now LCM is 4

 \frac{7 \times 2}{2 \times 2}  =  \frac{14}{4}

 \frac{5 \times 2}{2 \times 2}  =  \frac{10}{4}

Now, compare

 \frac{33}{4}  >  \frac{14}{4}  >  \frac{10}{4}

8\frac{1}{4}  > 3 \frac{1}{2}   > 2\frac{1}{2}
