Arrangement of the order of 5 levels of maturity is as follows:

  •  The Maturity model or more specifically Capability Maturity Model (CMM) is a development model for organizations. It is created on the basis of a study of data collected from various organizations.
  • The model can be classified in five levels-

1. Initial: This is where the processes come on ad hoc basis, and the concerned organization doesn't have a stability.

2. Repeatable: This is where the successes of software development are repetitive, though it might not be the same throughout the organization.

3. Defined: This is where an organization have set, defined and standard processes.

4. Managed: This is where the management is involved, and it controls centrally and effectively the effort of software development.

5. Optimizing: This is where the focus is set on continuous improvement of process performance through incremental and innovative technical progress.
