The menstrual cycle is a monthly cycle in which a woman’s uterus prepares for a fertilized egg to settle and grow into a body.

Phases of the menstrual cycle are a follicular phase, ovulation phase, proliferative phase, secretory phase.

Menstrual phase occurs because estrogen+progesterone levels are low because corpus luleum has regressed to corpus Albicans and stopped secreting hormones (day 1 to 5).

Proliferative phase is an increase in glands and blood vessels increasing levels of estrogen (day 16 to 14).

Secretory phase under the influence of estrogen and progesterone from corpus luteum (day 15 to 28).
