Increasing order of electronegativity is Mg < Al < Si < P < S .

Explanation:

  •  Electronegativity is the tendency of atom to attract the shared pair of electrons towards itself in bonding pair. It is the concept of bonded atom.  It is not a measurable quantity.
  • It can only be determined relatively in a bond.   In this question, we have to arrange the order of electronegativity of the given atoms which belongs to the third series of periodic table.
  • As we know moving from left to right the size decreases due to increase in Zeff. Therefore Electronegativity also increases along the period due to decrease in size and increase in Zeff.

So the increasing order of electronegativity is Mg < Al < Si < P < S.
