It is known that lesser is the hydrogen bonding present in a compound or substance more will be its volatility. This is because hydrogen bond is a strong bond and to break it we need higher amount of energy.

Therefore, when there is less hydrogen bonding then less heat is needed to break the bond. As a result, compound becomes more volatile in nature.

Acetone has least hydrogen bonding so it is the most volatile substance. Whereas water has strong hydrogen bonding therefore, it is least volatile.

Thus, we can conclude that given compounds are placed in order of increasing volatility as follows.

        water < 1-butanol < methanol < ethylacetate < methanol
