Elements of group 17, in decreasing order of reactivity  are F > Cl > Br > I.

Explanation:

  • Elements of group 17 are fluorine, chlorine, bromine and iodine. Being non-metals, these elements has the ability to gain electron in order to gain stability. And, as the size of atom increases there will be decrease in reactivity.
  • This is because smaller is the size of atom more will be the ability of its nucleus to attract the electron towards itself. So, larger is the size of atom less will be the force of attraction by the nucleus of the atom towards an electron from another atom.
  • This means that with increase in size there will be decrease in reactivity of the atom and with decrease in size there will be increase in reactivity of the atom. Hence, elements in decreasing reactivity will be F > Cl > Br > I.
