Answer:

Sodium (Na)

Calcium (Ca)

Magnesium (Mg)

Aluminium (Al)

Zinc (Zn)

Iron (Fe)

Copper (Cu)

Silver (Ag)

Gold (Au)

Explanation:

Displacement Reaction

The reaction in which more reactive metal displace or take the place of less reactive metal in the salt solution.

Eg. copper sulphate + zinc → zinc sulphate + copper

           CuSO4           +   Zn →   ZnSO4          +  Cu

Here, zinc is more reactive than copper so it takes the place of copper from copper sulphate solution

Q. Arrange the following in increasing order of their reactivity.

Zn, Al, Cu, Fe, Mg, Ag, Na, Ca and Au.

Answer:-

Correct order is :-

K > Na > Ca >Mg > Al > Zn > Fe > Ag > Au.

Reactivity series :- The arrangement of metals in a vertical column according to their increasing order of reactivity is known as reactivity series.

  • In reactivity series the reactive metal are at top and the less reactive metal at the bottom.

  • If we go up in reactivity series the reactivity increases and when we go bottom to the reactivity series the reactivity decreases.

Displacement reaction :- The reaction in which a highly reactive metal displaces less reactive metal is know as displacement reaction.

Ex :- AgNO3 + Na → NaNO3 + Ag

here Na is more - reactive than silver so it displaces silver and forms sodium nitrate.
