Increasing order of the elements with respect to the radii is:

a) P, N, O

b) Cl, F, Br

c) I^+, I, I^-..

Explanation:

  • The elements will have the atomic radius according to their atomic number and their respective placement in the periodic table.
  • The radii of the elements increase from left to right in the table.
  • As given in the option A  the Phosphorous is the element present right below the Nitrogen in the table and hence its radii will be smaller and then the Nitrogen will have smaller radii when compared to Oxygen.
  • As Oxygen was present in the right side of Nitrogen.
  • The same condition will be applied for the option B part elements which are Chlorine, Fluorine, and Bromine.
  • In the ‘c’ option we have ions of Iodine. The I^+ will have 8 electrons in their configuration and then element I will have 9 electrons andI^- will have 10 electrons.
  • These when arranged according to periodic table 8,9,10 will follow in the left to right order thereby in the increase of their radii.
