To arrange : following numbers in the descending order .

Given data : \frac{5}{6} . \frac{-1}{3} ,\frac{-3}{4}

Solution :

  • To arrange numbers in descending order is to write number from bigger to small .
  • Therefore , to arrange given rational numbers in the descending order we need to equalize denominators of all the rational numbers by takin LCM .
  • Therefore , LCM = 12
  • Now , multiplying numerators by same numbers as multiplied by denominator to make LCM .
  • Therefore, we get ,
  • \frac{5}{6} . \frac{-1}{3} ,\frac{-3}{4}  = \frac{5\times 2}{12} , \frac{-1\times 4}{12} , \frac{-3\times 3}{12}

                       = \frac{10}{12} , \frac{-4}{12} , \frac{-9}{12}

   Descending order :  \frac{10}{12} >\frac{-1}{12} > \frac{-9}{12}  or  \frac{5}{6} > \frac{-1}{3} > \frac{-3}{4} .
