The conversion of a substance from the solid to the gaseous state without its becoming liquid. It occurs more frequently among substances that are close to their freezing point.
Ex :- the vaporizationof frozen carbon dioxide (dry ice) at ordinary atmospheric pressure andtemperature.
(•) Deposition ---
The direct solidification of a vapor by cooling without changing into the liquid state. The reverse of sublimation.
Ex :- In severely cold temperatures frost will form on windows because the water vapor in the air comes into contact with a window and immediately forms ice without ever forming liquid water.
