The Mattancherry Palace, also known as Paradesi Synagogue, the most significant historical preserves in Fort Kochi. The Portuguese constructed it in the year 1555, as a gesture of love for the king of Cochin. This palace is located around 10 kilometers away from Ernakulam which is well connected to Mattancherry through bus, rail or boat.

The Architectural Features:
- The Mattancherry is a 2-storey quadrangular palace built in a traditional Kerala style.
- There are four separate wings which open into the central courtyard which houses the temple of royal deity Pazhayannur Bhagavathi. There are also temples of Lord Krishna and Lord Shiva on the two sides of the palace.
- The design of arches and chambers truly exhibits the European style of architecture.
- The ceilings are well designed by wood carved floral designs including the design of an inverted lotus.
