Arteries have thicker and more elastic walls than veins, as blood flows through them with a greater pressure.

Only veins have valves to prevent the backflow of blood, and arteries do not, except in the case of the two arteries which leave the heart( pulmonary trunk and aorta ). These two arteries are supplied with semilunar valves.

Arteries are distributary in nature. Veins collect blood.
