The walls of the arteries are found to be thicker than that of a vein because the blood that is carried from the heart to the capillaries has more high pressure. ... As the blood flowing through the veins does nat have much pressure as in that of the arteries their walls are thinner as compared to artery walls.

Arteries have thick walls. The for it is that, arteries except the pulmonary artery carries blood from the heart which is of high pressure. To prevent blast it has thick walls. Veins carry blood back to the heart its of low pressure. To prevent backward flow of blood, veins have valves.
