Artery walls are strong and elastic.
Blood in the arteries flows with more pressure and by j e r k s. Hence, to withstand this pressure the tunica media in arteries is formed relatively thick, with smooth muscles and two elastic laminae.

arteies walls are thick because in arteries the blood reach with high pressure to receive it to all body cells .
