Answer:

Given: Arthur is building a rectangular sandbox for his son.

The area of the sandbox is 17 23/32 square feet.

The length of the sandbox is 3 3/8 feet,

To Find : the width of the sandbox

Solution:

Area of a rectangle = length * width

length = 3 3/8 feet = 27/8 feet

Area = 17 23/32 = (17 * 32 +23)/32 567/32 sq feet

Width 1 = wfeet

Substituting the values

=> 567/32 = (27/8) *x

Multiplying both sides by 8

=> 567/4 = 27x

=> 21 * 27/4 = 27x

Cancelling 27 from both sides

=> 21/4 = x

=> x = 21/4

Hence width of the sandbox = 21/4 feet =

5 1/4 feet

Step-by-step explanation:

hope it's help to you:)
