Himachal Pradesh is a state in the northern part of India.Situated in the western Himalayas,it is one of the 11 mountain states and is characterized by an extreme landscape featuring several peaks and extensive river systems.Himachal Pradesh shares its borders with the union territories of Jammu &Kashmir and Ladakh to the north,States of Punjab to the west,Haryana to the south west,Uttar Pradesh to south,Uttarakhand to south east .The state shares an international  border to east with the Tibet Autonomous Region of China.

Himachal Pradesh is a state consisting of a large number of agrarian population solely depending upon the farming and animal husbandry practices.It is the backbone of state economy.Agriculture and its allied sector contributes to 20% of state’s GDP.This sector has experienced an upward swing in its growth in the recent years because of the active support of the state government,improved scientific technologies adopted by the farmers in the state.
