Women are on
the rise in all spheres. They have been denied equal participation and
opportunities in the common affairs and endeavors of life for a long time. However,
with the changing tide of time and trends, their influence in the western as
well as oriental world has become quite significant.
Indian women
have been unique and extremely talented since the ancient times. The past is
studded with their deeds of glories and feats. The contemporary times are
painted with their success stories. They have achieved new height in all the
fields. They have already proved their mettle all spheres. Space exploration,
research and development, science and medicine, politics, financing,
management, education, and whatnot, women have set higher standards than man.
In the
recently wound up Commonwealth Games 2018 held at Gold Coast, Australia, India
managed to secure third niche in the medal tally. Indian women athletes won a
big chunk of gold medals in that tally. Even in the Rio Olympic Games, it was a
woman who saved the nation’s face by winning a silver medal for India. The
entire nation was wonder struck at the feats of Kalpana Chawla, the
famous American-Indian astronaut. She left a deeper mark on the minds of Indian
youth, especially the girls when she died in the Columbia Space Shuttle
accident. The Indians were amazed at her talent. So they realized, Indian girls
could do wonders, provided conducive environment be given to them. Since then girls' education has been given
much importance to.
Indian women
have always been exceptionally talented. They have contributed equally in
bettering the society since ancient times. However, their recent success
stories have been quite impressive! Kalpana Chawala, Sunita Williams, Mery Com,
Sania Mirja, Saina Nehwal, Sushmita Sen, Aishwarya Roy, Priyanka Chopra,
Deepika Padukone, the list is endless. The Indian women are stunning the world
with their extraordinary talents. They have left men far behind in the field of
academic excellence. At schools, their performance in examinations and other co-
curricular activities eclipse boys. There is more number of women teachers.
Even in other fields such as politics, industry, defense, space exploration,
and research and development, they have made their presence felt. Recently
first batch of women fighter pilots was commissioned in the Indian Air Force.
All these are positive indicators of what they are capable of. Well the future
is really very bright for them.
It is matter
of great pride that many women scientists are project leaders at ISRO and DRDO.
They have successfully led many missions into space and missile test fires.
ISRO has brought unprecedented laurels to the nation by its successful Mars
Mission, 104 satellites launch in one lift-off, and Geosynchronous Satellite
Launch Vehicle-Mark III (GSLV-Mk III), on 5 June 2017. Women such as Ritu
Karidhal, Deputy Operations Director, Mars Orbiter Mission, Nandini Harinath,
Deputy Operations Director, Mars Orbiter Mission, Anuradha TK, Geosat Programme
Director at ISRO Satellite Centre have played pivotal role in this humongous
success. So women must come out of the four walls of houses and kitchens and
take an active role in spheres. Who knows with their coming out of the four
walls of houses is directly related to the establishment of permanent peace,
prosperity, and progress of the world?
In
conclusion it can be said that gender role has dramatically tilted in favor of women.
