Let's ponder for a second, what a true character really is.
We often say that a person has good or strong character. It means that such a person is true to their believes, can endure a lot, doesn't lean towards the ideas of the crowd and always stays honest. Having a character makes a person more empathic towards other people, animals and nature. It's not hard to notice that we're destroying our world and that in many cases those changes are irreversible.
Only good people, with good character are strong enough to say no, so think. Think about our world and how it's being constantly destroyed - animals being hunted, trees being cut in the never-ending race for technological advancements and many more.
Do we really want the future generation not to be able to see the beauty around us?
