Citizen amendment act (CAA ) was introduced by union Home minister Amit Shah on 9 December 2019 and this law aims at granting the status of Citizenship to the minorities group who had left their country because of the atrocities on them by that country. It includes the people from Afghanistan, Pakistan and Bangladesh.
The citizenship is given to the people belonging to the community of Hindu, Christian, Sikh, Jain, Buddhist, and Parsi. In 2019 amendment, vagrants who had joined India by moth of December 2014, and had endured "religious oppression" or "fear of religious oppression" in their country of origin were made eligible for citizenship.
