Article on decreasing respect for elders

Answer:
I think yours must be the first/only question at R.G. dedicated to the elderly and parents. Thanks for making us remember them as our close ones.
In "earlier days" (it can be 2 years or 200 years depending on penetration of capital), all aspects of society were developed in balance: Work, leisure, rest, hard work, wealth, consumption, austerity, retirement/withdrawal, engagement, interaction, solitude, etc. everything was in right proportion and individuals could adjust. Today it is total chaos. A 75 years old is over-worked; 15 years "old" youngs are beating drum for festive season throughout the year. Festival season has gone but drum beating continues; because no other job! Livelihoods of 80% in the unorganized sector are in threat. Those who are employed in lower/middle level jobs are unable to make both the ends meet: Self vs. family; self vs. system/state; self vs. other self; self vs. parents. In such chaotic "system" where viability/ survivability/ sustainability of productive systems and productive relations is in question, human alienation is bound to take place and continue as long as systemic elements are not properly organized. And who will organize? State/administrative apparatus everyday keeps the society and its individuals on toes! Be it farmer, villager or citizen everyone is so busy with or without productive work that they cannot even think of elderly parents. They are "lost sight of". As Nobal Laureate Gunter Grass lamented : You lose your friends and parents like sand slipping from your fist.
hope it helps you
