• OUR smartphones and tablets are taking a heavy toll on our everyday lives. In fact, they now take charge of our lives.
• We are heavily addicted to our gadgets. How do we know this? Because we can never get them out of our sight. If we do not bring them with us when going out, we feel completely “lost”.
• Just look at our daily behaviour. These gadgets lie beside our bed when we go to sleep and it is the first thing we see when we wake up in the morning. Our instinct is to reach out and check for the latest messages and notifications.
• I know of many who upon wa­­king up in the middle of the night to pee, cannot resist the urge to have a quick glance at the screen of the mobile phone. It doesn’t matter what time it is.
• It is now becoming the norm for many of us to constantly check our phones for messages and incoming emails, Facebook notifications and SMS messages.
