Initially, English was the language of England. However, the British Empire through its conquest of the world enabled it to be used as the main language at the global level. In the current society, the English language plays an important role since it is the window to the world. It is an international language widely spoken and ranked second after Chinese as a mother tongue. However, it comprises over 300 million native speakers in all the continents of the world. Therefore, English is the common language that enhances communication to people across the world. It is a simple language hence can be taught to children at primary levels hence it is the window to the world.

English commands the global education system. In most countries, children are taught the English language including countries where English is not official. Countries such as Sweden and Netherlands never use English as their official language. However, their syllabi, especially in sciences and engineering, are authored in the English language. This makes the language dominant in science. Besides, plenty of research studies documented in the English language, especially the University level studies. Elsewhere, most people especially the ESL students and other non-English speaking nations find it difficult to communicate with other people. This difficult comes due to poor mastery of English language. Thus, the students enroll in English lessons to learn it as their second language.

Another aspect that indicates English as a window to the world is mobile phone usage. With the advancement in technology, many apps in the mobile phones, emails, and internets are elaborated in the English language. Communications under such platforms are advanced due to the English language since it is simple and enhance competition. On a separate note, the English language plays a major role in the banking systems, transportation networks, airways, education, medical and even the private sectors. This language has proved itself to an important trade language in many nations. Students can get jobs abroad as well as education due to English language and effective communication with the native people. Those who travel abroad are readily assisted due to their command of English language. Besides, most companies that perform well at the international level use English as their official language. Therefore, all their staffs are hired based on communication skills especially a good command of the English language.

Thirdly, the English language commands the bulk of public information and entertainment world. Most internet websites are written in English. However, Sites authored in other languages provided English language options. On a separate note, the press uses English as a primary language. Most of the films, music, books journals and articles are published in the English language. Therefore, people get a wealth of information when they understand the English language; access published information and internet activities that are presented in English. Therefore, learning English promotes gains of knowledge and cultural understanding as well as rapidly promoting globalization.  The world of Hollywood especially in the USA hosts music and television shows. All the programs are presented in the English language.

In conclusion, the English language is a window to the world since it is the widely spoken and written language at the global level. Besides, the business systems, education systems and the entertainment industry at the highest percentage use the language. Thus, people should be taught English to gain competitive advantage at the global level. This in a sense provides a window to the rest of the world regarding enhanced communication.

British brought with them their language English to India and its global Nature has made it the lingua franca of India- a country with diverse regional Languages.

English is a language which is acceptable all over India be it al Kannada, Malayali, Punjabi, Gujrati, Marathi, Bengali because all speak English along with their own mother tongue.
