Gender Discrimination:An Evil Practice
Gender discrimination has been an old practice and a social evil in our country from a long time back. Though now it has been reduced, there are still villages, away from modernity, who still practice this unfortunate evil. Discrimination comes from prejudice and prejudice comes from us.
Often people have to face a lot of humiliation because of the gender discrimination. The women of our society are affected the most. But sometimes men also get troubled by it.
Boys sometimes want to choose nursing or fashion designing as their future jobs. But they are prevented to take so because they are 'boys'. It is believed that boy's will take jobs that are much more productive. A common prejudice that is quite heard from childhood days that 'boys never cry'. Is it really so? Of course it is not so. Everybody cries when they feel sad or demotivated. But our very own society decided that it thinks that it is just the girls who cry.
Though boys face trouble it is not so much compared to that faced by the women. WOMEN - The prey of gender discrimination
When God created us he never decided who will be discriminated and who will be not. Then why are the women ill treated? Why are they harassed? Why are they treated differently than men? Just because they are a woman?
Often it is seen that women are not provided with as many opportunities that men are provided with. Even if they are working they are paid less. But this is very rare case because most women are not allowed to go and work. It was thought that if women work outside it would be difficult to marry them. They are sometimes not even allowed to go out of the house Parents are often more protective about the girls than the boys. Girls are not allowed to stay late at night but boys are. Women who travel at night are viewed with suspicion and the society often ignores her and her work.
All the better opportunities like schooling and all are first provided to boys. If people are rich then they think whether to send their girls. But if they are poor they just send their boys. This is because the boys will be the future bread winner of the family, while the girls will be married off. So spending money on their education and needs were thought as a wastage of money as anyway she would have to leave her house when she grows up
