The Ghaf tree is universally regarded as the symbol of unity and collaboration.

All over the world the tree is regarded as very auspicious and sacred.

In Bahrain there is the four hundred year old Ghaf tree regarded as Shajarat-al-Hayat or The Tree of Life .

In the United Arab Emirates, it is regarded as the national tree. A Ghaf tree is used as a symbol in the campaign ‘Gift a Ghaf’ to spread unity and preserve the heritage of the country. Every citizen is urged to plant it in the garden to fight against desertification and to preserve the country's heritage

In India too the Ghaf tree is regarded as the symbol of unity and sacredness. History reads that in the village of Khejarli near Jodhpur in Rajasthan named after the Ghaf tree which is known as Khejri in these regions, there was a mass violent environmental confrontation in 1730 A.D.

A certain local lady named Amrita Devi and her three young daughters gave their lives while protecting the religious Khejri trees which the then king Maharaja Abhay Singh had ordered cut to create a path for his new palace.

This led to widespread revolution in which 363 people were killed trying to save the Khejri trees. The famous Chipko movement of the twentieth century was a reflection of the same story.

Thus over the years and all over the world the Ghaf tree is regarded as the symbol of unity.
