The axiom is ‘A HEALTHY MIND LIVES IN A HEALTHY BODY’. Physical health determines mental health and vice versa. Neglecting either of the two will lead to lopsided development of the personality. Hence looking after both physical and mental health is mandatory for enjoying life to the fullest.

However, a majority of people only pay heed to physical health. They take care of their body in all manners they can; they deck it with beautiful attires; they feed it with rare delicacies; a few of them do exercises also to keep it fit. But they ignore mental health which wrecks even the physical health.

The modern times are full of cut-throat competition and pace. This has lead to increased stress and tension. Maintaining mental health has never been so vital as is in the present times. As physical health does not happen on its own, similarly one has to take care of mental health to have a sound mind.

Yoga, music, deep breathing, reading, silence therapy, natural cheerfulness, proper sleep, etc. are some of the tools through which mental health can be maintained. So, one must pay equal attention to one’s physical and mental health.

Mental fitness is just as important as physical fitness and should be given higher priority, our physical fitness depends on our mental fitness. Mental fitness basically means keeping your brain and emotional health in shape. 

There is a mind-body connection if you have more physical fitness you will have more mental fitness when you work out, it increases the flow of oxygen to the brain. The people who are in good shape they tend to enjoy a higher level of mental agility. 

There is not always a mind-body connection, sometimes when we go to bed our body is in the sleeping state but the mind is not. There are ways which can help our mind calm down and those are the following methods:

- Reading
- Daydreaming
- Finding humor is life

Mind is usually active when you are stressed and overthinking, so keeping the mind calm is really important and the above-mentioned ways also increase the mental fitness.

Mental fitness is important for maintaining your brain and body healthy. To keep the mind fit it does not always include going to gym or working out, learning a new song or playing a game are also good way to keep the mind calm and fit.
