Indian festivals are numerous. They are harmonious, rich, varied and colorful. Indian festivals are as varied as the people themselves. Diwali is the most prominent of Hindu festivals. It is the festival of lights. This festival is celebrated to mark the return of Lord Rama to Ayodhya after the victory over Ravana. Holi is celebrated at the end of winter season. Christmas is the most important festival of Christians. It is celebrated as the birthday of Lord Jesus Christ on 25th December. The Parsees celebrate Navroz during August or September each year. It is the beginning of their new year. Eid is celebrated to mark the end of Ramzan. It was during the month of Ramzan that Holy Quran was revealed to Prophet Mohammed. All festivals have a common thread of joy, peace and harmony which unites the people of India.
