Let's First Take A Brief Knowledge Of The History Of Periodic Tables

Some Important Historical Tables ;

1. Dobernier Traits;

  • It is considered as the first attempt to arrange the elements
  • It was based on the atomic mass of the elements
  • He creates 5 traits , in each trait there were 3 elements
  • The average atomic mass of the first and the third element is equal to the mass of middle element in each trait

2. Newlands Law Of Octave;

  • It was also based on the atomic mass of the elements
  • According to this if the elements are arranged in the order to increasing atomic mass then the chemical and physical properties of the 1st element would be similar to the 8th element
  • Due to this table; newland achieves the Noble Prize
  • It was only applicable for lighter elements( upto calcium)

3. Lother Mayers Graph;

  • This is a graph distribution made by the lother mayer
  • The graph was between the atomic volume and the atomic mass of the elements
  • It was a quite successful graph

4. Mendeleev Periodic Table

  • It was a massive success
  • According to this, the chemical and physical properties of an element are the periodic function of their atomic mass
  • This table was able to predict the properties of some undiscovered elements

Moseley was the scientist who gives the hint that chemical and physical properties of the elements are the function of its atomic number

Modern Periodic Table;

  • This table is based on the increasing atomic number of the elements
  • Bohr and some other scientists had developed it

Features Of This Table:-

  1. This table is divided in 4 blocks namely s p d and f
  2. There are 7 periods and 18 groups in the modern periodic table
  3. It consists of 108 elements among which many of them exists naturally and quite are prepared in labs(called synthetic Elements)
