In the above context, the population and geographic dimensions of a country like India are very diverse. India is the seventh-largest nation and is the second-largest population in terms of size.  

In terms of areas, it covers about  3,287,263 km sq on the earth's surface. The smallest state being goa and the largest being Rajasthan.

The population is divided on the basis of geographical regions for the plain region have a high density of pollution and a low density of population is found in the mountainous or hilly regions of the country. Plateau regions are those with a medium density of population.

Both the population and geography, directly and indirectly, influence and impact each other and are considered to be a boon for development as a well-skilled human resources leads to the generation of economic and social development.  

Development of renewable and nonrenewable resources, development of agriculture, and irrigation system. Development of the tourism and hospitality industry are some of the boons of development.
