India is a developing country. These days she is facing many problems. These are poverty, unemployment illiteracy, overpopulation, social evils, backwardness and corruption.
Ever since India got independence, our government has been trying its best to solve these problems. But the most important among them is the problem of overpopulation.
Overpopulation is one of the reasons for India’s economic backwardness. Population explosion causes poverty starvation, ill-health and illiteracy.
Whatever we achieve by means of economic development is swallowed up by the ever increasing population. As the density of population in a given area increases, each person’s share of the available supplies of land, water, fuel, etc decreases.
At present, the world population is about 500 crore and about 8 crore people are being added to it every year. In India alone, there are 100 crore people and in 4 years’ time, we will have more than a population of 110 crores.
Therefore the problems of the population are very crucial for us. The only viable solution to these problems lies in the cultivation of the habit of family planning which must be made effective and widespread.
This will automatically solve a number of problems which the country is facing today. People should be given education and their attention was drawn to the various dangers of the growth of population.
