Regionalism -a danger to national unity
India is made up of twenty nine states and seven union territories. Each state and union territory has its own peculiar language, culture, traditions, and ideology. People living in these states and union territories have their own interests and issues.
When they focus more on their regional issues than the national issues it becomes regionalism. Many regional issues have become threat to national unity. A group of people representing the state raise demands that are against national interests. Issues such as terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir, certain people demanding autonomous rule, naxalism, not accepting Hindi as the national language, objecting to the Central Government schemes, etc. are major challenges.
The Indian Government should nip these regional issues in the bud and instil nationalism in the minds of people living in all states and union territories.
