Self-help is an admirable quality’. It means not to invite any body’s help for doing a work. Those who need the help of others in doing their works they lose their self-confidence. So, it is right to say that self-help increases self-confidence. Thus self-help is nothing but the habit of confidently standing on one’s own legs.

We all should develop this habit of self-help. It is a sin to depend on others. God has given each of us two hands ‘ and two legs. These two hands and two legs are sufficient. To do any work. We lose our independence by calling others to help us. Others will not help us always. They may help us once or twice. If we repeatedly ask for their help they will laugh at us and criticise us as idle fellows. Similarly, a country must learn to stand on her own legs.

Childhood is the right stage to learn the habit of self- help. Children should be encouraged to do their own work. They should learn how to live independently. There is no objection to the use of a crutch by a lame. But in the name of weakness if a sound person uses it, gradually he loses his original strength to stand on his own legs.
