Break up of Joint family system in India:

In India, in olden days, almost all the houses lived in a joint family, where grandparents, parents, children, brothers and sisters all lived together. This resulted in sharing and they were happy though they had less space to live.

But, later, the joint families were converted into nuclear families, where grandparents started to live separately and parents lived alone, and son and his family (his wife and kids) lived alone and so on.

This gave much freedom for the individuals but there arose lack of sharing and caring others. Even giving respect to elders diminished among kids.
