The discount percent = 20%

Given :

  • An article was bought for Rs. 1280 after getting discount.

  • Marked price of the article is Rs. 1600

To find :

The discount percent

Solution :

Step 1 of 2 :

Calculate discount amount

The article was bought for Rs. 1280 after getting discount.

Marked price of the article = Rs. 1600

∴ Discount amount

= Rs. 1600 - Rs. 1280

= Rs. 320

Step 2 of 2 :

Calculate discount percent

∴ The discount percent

\displaystyle \sf = \frac{ Discount\: amount }{Marked \: price} \times 100\%

\displaystyle \sf = \frac{320}{1600} \times 100\%

\displaystyle \sf = \frac{1}{5} \times 100\%

\displaystyle \sf = 20\%
