Answer:
If I had the power to destroy one of Man’s plethora of creations, I would have destroyed the ‘Kindle’. A kindle is a device used to read e-books and is considered one of the most appreciable inventions of this e-world. It can store more than a millennium of books and can be carried everywhere along with the user. But still, I would prefer to destroy it.
The Early Man was nomadic in nature. In their leisure, they used to draw on the walls of the caves the abstract figures of human and animals. The cave walls served as the first surface on which Man expressed his ideas. The evolution of time civilized Man. Now, they wrote on clay tablets. The Harappan Civilization tells us of the seals of the various civilizations of the contemporary time. China was the first to invent paper. With the invention of paper, man could now compose literature and through them they could express themselves. But the handwritten books were obsolete and circulation of books wasn’t mobile. The Renaissance brought with it the invention of Printing Press and thus came the idea of hardcover books. Booklovers now had ample scope to read and get access to the World Literature. The advent of many literates such as Shakespeare, Da Vinci, Petrarch and many more had been witnessed during this period. The concept of hardcover books had continued from then and has been used if all fields, such as education, literature and even governance. Our India has a ‘hand-written constitution’ in the form of a bound book. This trend had continued till the twenty-first century until the invention of Kindle and e-books.
With the invention of kindle, hardcover books are being replaced by e-books. It’s of no doubt that e-books are way flexible and easy to carry but the somewhere the e-books lag behind the hardcover books to me. The joy of reading a novel and the curiosity of turning the next page to reveal what happened next can never be brought about by the e-books. Notwithstanding the mobility of the e-books, be the fragrance of the torn brown pages, the doodles round the corners and sometimes a few crumbled up petals of a red rose between the pages, bearing the reimburse of one’s lost love can never be imitated by the e-books. No, never.
Thus I still prefer hardcover books to e-books.
But the present scenario seems entirely different. Unlike me, most people are encouraging the e-books over the former ones. It‘s no sure that one day e-books might even replace our text books and to me that would be the worst thing on earth. Thus, If I had the supreme power in my hand, I would have destroyed the ‘e-books’ and ‘Kindle’.
