Layering is a means of plant propagation in which a portion of an aerial stem grows roots while still attached to the parent plant and then detaches as an independent plant. Layering has evolved as a common means of vegetative propagation of numerous species in natural environments.

Grafting and budding are horticultural techniques used to join parts from two or more plants so that they appear to grow as a single plant. In grafting, the upper part (scion) of one plant grows on the root system (rootstock) of another plant. In the budding process, a bud is taken from one plant and grown on another.

types of Grafting:

1. Bark graft
2.Side veneer graft
3.Splice graft
4.Whip and tounge graft
5.Saddle graft
6. Bridge graft

hope it helps you out mate.

☆Layering-it is the method of propagating a plant in which a shoot is fastened down to former roots while still attached to the parents plant.
it consists of 2 types"-

●Mound layering-In this method, branches of plants to be propagated are bent to touch the soil and the bent portion is covered by soil and roots grow at this node

●Air layering-Used for plants having thick stems. In these plants a part of the stem is removed and is covered with moist cotton and enclosed in a bag, when roots appear after some time , the branch is cut off and is planted.ex:rubber

☆Grafting-Two individual plants are used to derive a new plant,.:root portion (stock), stem portion (scion). The grafted end if stock and scion are cut obliquely and placed one upon the other . This is bound tightly. Grafting maybe done in two ways

●Bud grafting-the scion of a dormant bud is grafted on to the stock. ex:rose

●Stem grafting -It us usually done on closely related plants. In this method., either the stock is cut or slitted where the scion is inserted and bound tightly ex:mango, citrus, apple, etc..
