Answer:

Artificial methods of vegetative reproduction are:

• Cutting - It is the most common method of artificial vegetative reproduction. New plants are obtained by replanting the cut stem or leaf of the parent plant. Ex - Rose.

• Grafting - In grafting a bud or shoot is cut from one plant and inserted under the bark on the stem of a closely related plant variety. The former is called graft and the later stock. Both are tied together with a string. In few weeks, the tissue of graft and stock fuse together. Ex - Apple.

• Layering - In this method the lower branch of the plant is bent to the ground and covered with moist soil. After sometime, roots start growing from the covered plant which is then separated from the parent plant. Ex - Jasmine.

• Tissue culture - In this method, plants are propagated under controlled conditions, generally outside their natural environment. Exact replicas of plants can be produced by this method.
