s.p=1600

m.p=?

now,

let m.p be 'x',

discount amount=20% of m.p

                             =20/100 × x

                             =0.2x

again,

m.p= s.p + discount amount

or, x = 1600 + 0.2x

or, x - 0.2x = 1600

or, 0.8x = 1600

or, x = 1600/0.8

or, x = 2000      

so,

m.p = 2000 ans
