Answer:

Let x be the number of books bought by Arun

C.P of x books=Rs 60

C.P of 1 book=\frac{60}{x}x60

According to question

Number of books=x+5

C.P of (x+5) books=Rs 60

C.P of 1 book=\frac{60}{x+5}x+560

\frac{60}{x+5}=\frac{60}{x}-1x+560=x60−1

1=\frac{60}{x}-\frac{6}{x+5}1=x60−x+56

1=\frac{60(x+5)-60x}{x(x+5)}1=x(x+5)60(x+5)−60x

x(x+5)=60x+300-60x=300x(x+5)=60x+300−60x=300

x^2+5x-300=0x2+5x−300=0

x^2+20x-15x-300=0x2+20x−15x−300=0

x(x+20)-15(x+20)=0x(x+20)−15(x+20)=0

(x+20)(x-15)=0(x+20)(x−15)=0

x+20=0x+20=0

x=-20x=−20

It is not possible because the number of books is always a positive number.

x-15=0x−15=0

x=15x=15

Number of books bought by Arun=15

Price of each book=\frac{60}{15}=Rs 41560=Rs4
