Arun does the work in 1 day=1/30th part

Varun …………do……….1 day=1/36 th part

Together they …..do….1 day= 1/30+1/36=11/180 part.

Let us say Varun does the work in x days before joining of Arun to complete the work together in 24 days. So in x days Varun does=x/36 part. The remaining part of work remains= 1-x/36=(36-x)/36 part which will be done in 24-x days by both of them. In ( 24-x) days together do 11(24-x)/180 part of work . So, (36-x)/36=11(24-x)/180 Or,36-x=11×36(24-x)/180 Or, 36-x=11(24-x)/5 Or,180-5x=264–11x or, 11x-5x=264-180=84, or, 6x=84, or, x=14 days.

Ans: Arun joins the work after 14 days.

Answer:

6 days

Step-by-step explanation:

Work done by Arun in one day = 1/10

Work done by Varun in one day = 1/15

Therefore, work done by Arun and Varun in one day = 1/10 + 1/15 = 3+2/30 = 5/30 = 1/6

Therefore, Arun and Varun together do 1/6 of the work in 1 day

Thus, they can together finish the work in 6 days. :)
