Distance :

Distance is actual part covered by the body between its initial and final position .It is a scalar quantity.

Arun completes two rounds of a circular track in 40 seconds

number of rounds completed in 2 minutes 40 seconds i.e 160 seconds

= 160×2/40

= 8 rounds

number of rounds completed buy Arun in 2 minutes 40 seconds = 8

Distance covered by Arun

= Circumference of circle

 =  \mathtt{2 \pi \: r}

 =  \mathtt{2 \times 3.14 \times 50}

 =  \mathtt{314m}

Distance covered in one round = 314 m

Distance covered in 8 rounds = 314 × 8

Total distance covered by Arun = 2512 m

Displacement :

Displacement is the shortest path travelled between the initial and the final position. It is a vector quantity .

As the initial and the final position of Arun is the same

Net displacement is zero
