Arun got 41% marks in science, 50% marks in maths and x marks in English. The maximum marks in each of these subjects were 100, 150 and 200 respectively. If his aggregate percentage was 50% find the marks he got in English.

Marks of Math =  50% of 150 = 50(150/100) = 75

Total marks = 100 + 150 + 200 = 450

According to given condition

Sum of marks of subject = 50% of total marks

Putting values we get

       x + 41 + 75 = 225

 ⇒   x = 225 - 41 - 75 = 109

So the marks of English = 109

Checking

109 + 41 + 75 = 225 = 50% of 450 = 50% of total marks
