Answer:

₹1815

Step-by-step explanation:

let cost price for Arun be 100 units

so

he sells Bala at 20℅ profit

{ 20℅ of 100 = 20}

so c. p. for Bala = 100 + 20 = 120 units

similarly

Bala sells it to Catherine at 10℅ profit

{ 10℅ of 120 = 12}

so

c. p. for Catherine = 120 + 12 = 132 units

now

Catherine sold it to Dinesh at a profit of ₹ 16

so c. p. of Dinesh = 132 units + ₹16

& given that difference between c. p. of Arun and c. p. of Dinesh is ₹500

so we get

c. p. of Dinesh - c. p. of Arun = 500

=> 132 units + ₹16 - 100 units = ₹500

=> 132 units - 100 units = ₹500 - ₹16

=> 32 units = ₹484

=> 1 unit = ₹484/32 = ₹ 15.125

so

c. p. of Bala = 120 units

=> c. p. of Bala = 120 × 15.125 = ₹1815 (answer)
