Given : Arun went to a shoe store and purchased a pair of shoes worth ₹500. He gave a ₹2000 note to the owner of store and he was returned 11 notes in denominations of ₹200 and ₹100.

number of ₹200 notes is x and that of ₹100 is y,

To Find :  linear equation will be formed for this information.

Solution:

purchased a pair of shoes worth ₹500.

He gave a ₹2000 note

Return = 2000 - 500  = 1500 Rs

number of ₹200 notes is x

Hence Value is 200x

number of ₹100 is y

Hence value is 100y

Total Value returned = 200x + 100y

200x + 100y  = 1500

Dividing both sides by 100

=> 2x  + y  = 15

2x  + y  = 15
