Given : Aryan was given Rs 20000 by his parents to arrange a party for his birthday.

He planned to spend 1/4 on food,

3/10 of the remaining amount on decoration

and 1/3 of remaining on the return gifts to be given

Aryan found that his friends gave him gifts which are equivalent to 3/5 of amount that he spent on decoration and food.

To Find : What

was the amount on gifts that he received?

A) Rs 5700

B) Rs 4500

C) Rs 3600

D) Rs 5000

Solution:

Spend on food = (1/4)20000  = 5000

Remaining = 20000 - 5000 = 15000

Spend on decoration = (3/10) 15000 = 4500

spent on decoration and food.  = 5000 + 4500 = 9500

3/5 of amount that he spent on decoration and food.  = (3/5)9500

= 5700

amount on gifts that he received = 5700

Step-by-step explanation:

Total money Aryan had = 20,000

Total money he spent on food = 1/4 of 20000

= Rs. 5000

Total money he spent on decoration = 3/10 of remaining money

= 3/10 of 15000

= Rs. 4500

now remaining money = 15000-4500 = Rs. 10,500

now amount of gift = 3/5 of money he spent on decoration and food

= 3/5 of (5000+4500)

= (3/5)×9,500

= Rs. 5700
